For many, three days at EAG International & VAE is the official start of the New Year- a time to blow away the cobwebs and to look forward to the forthcoming year’s trading.
Those making the journey to ExCel this year were rewarded with a truly dazzling display of products and there were favourable comments about the layout and appearance of the show floor, bearing testimony to the hard work and professionalism of the show’s exhibitors.
A strong contingent of first-time exhibitors plus requests for larger stands resulted in a larger exhibition floor than previous years, with many commenting that this contributed to a more open and business-friendly environment. Show Organiser Karen Cooke explains: “With 17 new participants and a number of regular exhibitors requiring larger stands, we extended towards the rear of the hall, creating a more even flow of visitors.
“Visitor numbers were on a par with the previous year but many exhibitors mentioned that the quality of visitors continues to improve. There is little doubt that EAG & VAE has earned a reputation as a show for doing business and with a quarter of visitors coming from overseas, the show has maintained strong international recognition,” revealed Karen.
The show’s international credentials were echoed by exhibitors, with Graham Liddle of Formula K International commenting:“We’ve seen quality visitors and earned new customers. There has been a good proportion of European visitors.”
First-time exhibitor Immotion also benefited from many overseas visitors, with Sales Director Paul Collimore saying: “EAG has given us the best possible showcase for European customers and has been fantastic for increasing our lead base.”
Karen Cooke also indicated that the show attracted visitors from the wider leisure market: “The 2018 event benefited from additional promotion to other allied markets that are turning to amusement products for incremental revenue. I’m pleased to confirm that this has resulted in additional visitors from sectors such as Cinema and Holiday Parks in particular,” explained Karen.
Many of the show’s participants commented that this year’s EAG International & VAE reflected a new sense of confidence, a vibrancy and purpose from within the industry, illustrated perfectly by the resounding success of Novomatic’s launch of Bulldog Games.
Bulldog Games’ Managing Director Peter Collinge was delighted with event: “The show was a huge success, both in terms of launching the new Bulldog Games Brand and the new product line up. The platform of EAG could not have worked better to launch Bulldog. The stand remained busy and exciting for the full 3 days and post-show enquiries have also continued to flow through. The show certainly exceeded the high and challenging expectations I had set,” confirmed Peter.
Technology companies fared particularly well at the show with a strong representation from creators of Virtual Reality experiences, backed by a full day of seminar sessions presented by Kevin Williams of KWP, exploring the future of this exciting phenomenon. On the Instance Automatics stand, Omni Arena VR generated a great deal of interest with Instance Managing Director Ian Eason saying: "We had a very successful EAG show which was down to us having three of the best pieces at the event, namely the Atari Pong Table, the Omni Arena VR Setup and Coconut Shy from UNIS.”
For E-Service, technology was also high on the agenda with Managing Director Mike Clokie commenting: “Once again EAG has exceeded expectations. The show has attracted professional people wishing to discuss emerging technologies and opportunities.”
With alternative payment technologies also featuring highly at this year’s show, C-z Patel, Seminar Presenter and Application Sales Manager of Nayax UK confirmed: “We’re really pleased at the level of enquiries. We’ll be back next year and with a larger stand.”
Louise Janeway, Sales Director at Hemisphere West Europe commented: “A really busy and successful show and also great for networking. The industry is really embracing contactless payment.”
The products are the real stars at EAG & VAE but, now in its tenth year, the event has come to mean so much more. The show provides focus at the start of the year and is a hub for professional bodies, charities, manufacturers, distributors and others who all converge on ExCel to buy, to sell, to exchange experiences, to entertain, to be entertained, and to enjoy being part of an innovative industry with a real sense of purpose.
EAG International & VAE 2019 will take place on 15-17th January 2019.
