In the spring of 2013, the city of Sochi is going to celebrate an opening of a new 2-level shopping mall named «Mandarin». The project is being implemented by a Russian Moscow-based company named “Expo”, with help of such world famous US-based architecture planning firm as Jerde Partnership, and local designing companies: “Adlerproektcenter” and “Gor-Proekt”.
The mall is promised to be a special one in several respects.
First, «Mandarin» will be the first Russian outdoor shopping mall, and this fact alone makes it unique at the moment.
Since the main idea was to encompass all the best ideas the world experience has to offer in the project, the spot, according to the master plan, is going to be arranged and look very unusual to the Russian public. It will consist of 10 retail and entertainment areas, united by a general architecture and landscape theme in the terms of concept, and in the terms of physical integrity – by bridges or pathways for pedestrians.
The total area of “Mandarin” is planned to be 33 000 sq.m., and almost half of it – 15 000 sq.m., will be occupied by shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants, while 1 500 sq.m. will be given to a kiddie entertainment center.
For the convenience of people coming there by car, an underground parking for 150 cars will be provided.
Second, the key attraction for the shoppers and visitors is to become a unique laser show installed on the area of 5000 sq.m., and provided by a world renown laser entertainment leader - Laservision company.
The given attraction, made as an amphitheatre with a water pool, will be able to seat 1275 visitors per one performance on the water. The planned total number of visitors per day is going to be around 4000. Laservision is reported to take the personal responsibility of the attraction installation in the mall.
