According to the research held by one of the biggest analytic companies, in 2014-2015 14.1 mln sq.m of entertainment centers will be open in the European region – the volume equal to current size of family entertainment centers (FECs) market in Germany. The first place in the new constructions volume is taken by Russia where 3.8 mln sq.m of the shopping floor space is planned to be put into operation. In case these plans are realized, Russia will become an absolute leader in the volume of entertainment centers market in Europe leaving the UK and France behind.
In 2013 in Europe 5.6 mln sq.m of shopping floor space was put into operation and it is expected that in 2014 this figure will reach 7.2 mln sq.m which will make the highest rate since 2008 and exceed average rate for 2009-2013 on 32%. In 2015 6.9 mln sq.m more will be put into operation.
In 2013 almost 50% of FECs built in Europe accounts for Russia and Turkey. In Russia over 1.6 mln sq.m of shopping floor space was put into operation and in 2014 this figure will come to 2 mln sq.m.
Today the volume of FECs market in Russia is 16 mln sq.m which makes it the 3rd in Europe. In case of realization of all the above mentioned plans, Russia will make 19.8 mln sq.m and will become the 1st in the volume of operating FECs.
The 2nd place in 2013 is given to Turkey. Among the countries of Western Europe for the next 2 years the most significant growth of the shopping floor space is expected in Germany.
