According to the study of the world tourism organization, when GDP per capita reached 5000 U.S. dollars, mature holiday tourism economy will appear in a country or a region. In 2014 China's GDP per capita exceeded more than 7000 U.S. dollars, which appears the demand for vacation has become an important issue nationally. Not only domestic theme park leader such like OCT, ChimeLong, Song Cheng, Haichang, Huaqiang Fangte but also leading international theme park operators incl. Disneyland, Universal Studios, Paramount, Six flags, Lego and other ones are very optimistic about the Chinese market. As is forecasted, there will be more increasing investments in the nation, pushing forward the industrial development. According to incomplete statistics, in 2016 only in the Yangtze River Delta region there will also be more than 10 large theme park projects under construction or to be open. The market of theme park industry in China in a short period will enter the stage of fierce competition.
However, the booming industry is facing lots of problems about making profits easily. Only 10% of the whole theme parks could make money while 70% of them are under deficit. Homogenized operation, lake of creativity, copying the case without innovation, lack of the feasibility study before the projects, depending a lot on ticket sales and lack of the IP derivative products are major problems within the industry. How to leverage the advantages of group to attract capitals for fine operation will be the key point to success in the future.
